Carpet and Rug Measurement Guide
Taking carpet measurements is a very important step in home decoration. The right rug size can determine the overall look and layout of your room. Here are practical tips and steps to determine the appropriate carpet size for your rooms:

1. Room measurement: The first step is to take your room measurements to determine the appropriate size for the rug. Measure the room width and length in meters.

For example; Let the width of your carpet be 150 cm and the length 230 cm. When you multiply the two measurements with the help of a calculator, you get 150 x 230 = 34,500. When you divide the result by 10,000, you will reach the measurement of 3.45 square meters. This measurement is considered to be approximately 4 square meters.

The actual square meter of the carpet is calculated by multiplying the width and length, and the result is rounded to the nearest size.

2. Place the furniture: Identify the furniture you intend to place under the carpet in your room. This is an important step in determining the size of the rug.

3. Rug placement: Depending on the shape of the room, consider how the rug will be placed. Generally, in living rooms, the carpet is placed in front of and under the sofas. In bedrooms, carpet can be used on the sides and under the bed.

4. Determining the area: Determine the width and length of the area where you plan to place the carpet. This will help you get the correct measurement of the area the rug will take up.

5. Framing: Create a frame in the area where the carpet will be placed. For example, if you want the carpet to stay under the armchairs in the living room, create a frame in front and on the sides of the armchairs.

6. Take measurements: Take the carpet size suitable for the area you have determined. In this step, it is important to take exact and accurate measurements using measuring instruments (meter, ruler).

7. Carpet thickness (pile height) selection:
The thickness of the carpet, that is, the pile height, is a feature that can vary depending on the area of use.

Pile height is the height of the yarns on the surface of your carpet, also known as the "pile", from the bottom base to the surface. It is measured in millimeters (mm).

Generally, there are 3 types of pile height ranges in carpets:
- Thin (height below 6 mm)
- Medium (height from 6 to 12 mm)
- Thick (12 mm and longer hairs)

• Thin, low-pile carpets are more durable and easier to clean. Since the pile height is not high, it does not feel soft. Thin carpets can be preferred in areas such as the Dining Room, Kitchen, Entrance/Hall.

• Carpets with medium pile height are both soft and easy to clean carpet options. It can be used in every area of the house.

• Thick carpets with high pile height are the choice of those looking for comfort in carpets. They give a soft and warm feeling, but they are a little harder to clean and heavier than others. High pile carpets are more suitable to create a more comfortable and warm atmosphere in rooms such as bedrooms and living rooms.

8. Make a choice: Search for carpets that fit the dimensions you have determined and make your choice. A quality carpet will add an elegant touch to the decoration of your room.

By following these steps, you can determine the appropriate carpet size for your rooms. When you choose the right carpet according to the size of your room and the location of the furniture, you can make the space look larger and more spacious. Things to consider when deciding on carpet size:
• For ideal carpet placement, the carpet should not touch the wall and there should be a gap of 35-40 cm.
• If your room is large, the size of your carpet should be such that it can include your sofa set, that is, the seats should be placed on the carpet.
• If you do not want to place a carpet that will completely cover the bottom of the furniture, carpets that do not come into contact with the furniture and leave a gap of approximately 15 cm between them may be suitable.
Small carpets placed in the middle of the room, independent of the furniture and out of touch, can generally be a suitable choice for small rooms.
